Oldfields Orchard Cider was a new brand (born out of the already established Hobsons Brewery) that produces cider from Oldfield Farm in Worcestershire. The business makes fine cider from local produce by using a sustainable process true to the Oldfields Cider story. Their product range is sold to retailers in the local area and surrounding counties.

The Brief:

Having been working with the well-established and well-known Hobsons Brewery for some time, we were approached to be involved in the design of the online presence for Oldfields Orchard. A website was required to tell the Oldfields’ story and effectively establish their connection to Hobsons Brewery. It also needed to highlight their heritage, their brand values and showcase the product range on offer, along with the ciders’ characteristics and tasting notes. Finally, it had to be informative by providing people with a quick and easy method of finding out where their products could be purchased. 

The Solution:

Following discussions on how the business and its product needed to be positioned, and using the newly developed brand identity, we set about creating a design that would effectively tell the story of Oldfields Orchard and made good use of the developed logo and artwork illustrations which featured on all of the products. Given that this was a new product range, it was likely that the business was going to grow in the future, so a content management system was implemented which would easily allow for new products to be added as and when they became available. Product details are published online along with descriptions on characteristics, awards, customer comments and tasting notes in a consistent format.

Both a blog and a ‘News & Events’ section were added enabling Oldfields to instantly share company news or useful information with the readers of their site. These features also mean there is an avenue for announcing and marketing any new products that may be added to the range in the future.

The site also features a stockist locator, allowing users to find their nearest supplier of the cider with a postcode search. Using a Google map, this displays all stockists within a certain range of the user’s location. All of this was created so that it could be easily maintained by Oldfields in the content management system, meaning stockists could quickly be added or removed if necessary. True to the current trend, the website needed to be accessible on the latest devices with web browsing technology and so the site is responsive, offering an improved user experience when viewed on tablet or mobile devices.
